Blake Maxwell, now the Kansas and North Kansas City Area Director, is a perfect example of the opportunity ODS offers. Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Blake started with ODS in the winter of 2016 as a detailer in a large offsite facility servicing CarMax and local dealerships.
“I had a conversation with my boss early on,” Blake recalls. “I told him I wanted to grow so he challenged me to stay punctual, take initiative, and be ahead of the curve. That was all I needed to hear.”
Blake didn’t just meet expectations, he exceeded them. Within a year, he became an assistant manager overseeing four dealerships. From there, he managed multiple stores, became a company trainer and travelled across the country helping set up stores in Iowa, Washington, Colorado, Arizona and Texas.
As of March 2025, Blake now leads operations for 20 locations across Kansas and North Kansas City, managing nearly 100 employees in total as an area director.

“I liked the commission structure as a detailer because I got paid for the work I put in,” Blake shares. “Some people are fast and although all of our work meets ODS quality standards, some just love pumping out cars faster than others based upon their work ethic and commission structure. I, on the other hand, was more meticulous with each car so it took me longer to complete a detailing job which made our hourly rate more appealing versus commission based. That’s what’s so neat about us, ODS helps you find what fits you best and they know how to reward you for it.”

“You’ve got to pay attention to the small stuff. That’s where detailing really shines, in the nitty gritty. If you take initiative, grab the first job of the day, and show consistent drive, the leadership here will see that.”
Blake’s team includes others who, like him, started in entry-level roles and worked their way up. It’s not uncommon at ODS and that’s by design.
