Every Shift, Every Site: Safety First
At OnSite Dealer Solutions (ODS), safety isn’t just a box we check, it’s part of our culture. With over 500 employees working at more than 160 dealerships across 11 states, maintaining a safe work environment is a top priority. Behind the scenes, our HR Generalist, Ciarra Owens, plays a vital role in helping us deliver on that commitment.
“Workplace safety is personal to me because it directly impacts the wellbeing of our people,” Ciarra explains. Since joining ODS in July 2024, she has helped lead initiatives that protect both our team members and the dealer partners who trust us to work on their lots and in their facilities.
Safety Starts with Preparation
Before any team is placed at a dealership, ODS conducts a thorough safety assessment of the work environment. “We look for potential hazards like chemical exposure, electrical cords, wet floors, and ventilation issues,” says Ciarra. "We won’t bring a team onsite until we know the space is compliant and safe."
From preventing slip and fall accidents to safeguarding against chemical burns or eye injuries, our proactive approach includes:
- Assessing OSHA compliance and environmental hazards before deployment
- Monthly leadership meetings on safety topics, including summer-specific risks like heat exhaustion and heat stroke
- Providing cooling towels, hydration support, and personal protective equipment such as nitro gloves, safety glasses, and masks
- Ensuring proper storage and use of chemical safety data sheets (SDS) at all locations
Site Managers as Safety Ambassadors
Ciarra emphasizes that ODS site managers play a critical role in upholding safety standards day to day. “Our site managers are the front line of our safety culture. They’re our eyes and ears on the ground,” she says. These managers are specifically trained to relay to our onsite team how to properly:

They’re our eyes and ears on the ground,” she says. These managers are specifically trained to relay to our onsite team how to properly:
- Roll up hoses and electrical cords to avoid tripping hazards
- Monitor for floor moisture and use fans to dry surfaces, preventing slips and falls
- Coach team members on best safety practices during every shift
In addition to site managers, ODS National Trainers and Area Directors also monitor safety conditions and provide continuous training to teams nationwide.
Evolving With Growth
As ODS continues to expand, so does its commitment to a strong safety culture. Ciarra is enthusiastic about new support coming to her department: “We’ve recently shifted roles internally and welcomed a dedicated Onboarding Coordinator, Amy, who has been a valued member of our team for several years as well as added a new HR Assistant, Londin. Both will play a key role in supporting our growing team and improving our internal processes. That extra help will allow us to provide even better support for our growing workforce.”
From employee relations and workers' compensation to FMLA and ADA support, Ciarra’s role spans every aspect of employee wellness and safety remains a core focus for the company.
“Safety is the foundation for everything we do. If our teams don’t feel safe, they can’t do their best work. And that means our clients won’t get our best either.”
At ODS, Safe Work is Smart Work
Whether we're detailing cars, managing recon, or providing support staff for dealerships, ODS puts people first. Through careful planning, constant communication, and strong leadership at every level, we ensure a safer workplace for everyone.
